Amber Alert Issued for 6 Year Old California Girl

The Rialto Police Department and the California Highway Patrol issued the Amber Alert after the child was abducted during a car jacking on Sunday night.

Akira Hernandez , 6 yrs., Hispanic female, 3', 45 lbs. with black hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink hat, black/white scarf, multi colored striped sweater and blue jeans. There is no suspect information at this time. The vehicle is a white 99 ford escort station wagon with California tag 4 NCT 041.

DAYTON — U.S. District Judge Walter Rice refused Friday to dismiss a federal lawsuit filed by former federal Public Defender Beth Lewis, who is seeking to block her subpoenaed testimony before a Montgomery County grand jury about the 1999 disappearance of 9-year-old Erica Baker.

Rice said arguments would be held before March 1 on Lewis's claim that federal rules protecting attorney/client privilege bar her testimony.

Montgomery County Prosecutor Mathias Heck Jr. sought to return the case to state courts, where a judge has held Lewis in contempt for refusing to testify.

Lewis was an appointed lawyer for Jan Marie Franks, a drug addict whom police believed had information about what happened to the girl. After Franks died in December 2001, prosecutors subpoenaed Lewis to appear before a grand jury to testify about what her deceased client may have told her about Erica Baker.

They produced a document signed by Franks' widower, Shane Franks, waiving the confidentiality of communications between lawyer and client.

The Ohio Supreme Court ruled that the waiver is valid and that Lewis must testify before the grand jury.

Lewis went to federal court, contending that, as a public defender in the federal system, her professional duties are governed by federal law rather than in Ohio law.

Amber Alert Issued for 10 Year Old Indiana Girl

The Crothersville Police Department and the Indiana State Police issued the Amber Alert on Thursday afternoon after it was determined that the girl was likely abducted from her school on Tuesday afternoon. Crothersville Indiana is about 40 miles north of Louisville Kentucky.

Kaylyn Collman, 10 yrs., white female, 4'6", 120 lbs. She has brown eyes and brown hair. She was last seen wearing a red short sleeve shirt, black stretch pants with white stripes and a medium light blue winter jacket. Katlyn Collman was last seen at 4:20 pm on January 25th at Crothersville Community School, Crotersville, IN. and is believed to be in extreme danger.

The suspect is described as a tall white male, 5'8" tall - 6'0", very skinny, 18 to 20 years old, short dark hair, fair complexion.

The suspect vehicle is a white Ford F-150 pickup truck, late 80's or early 90's which was last seen in the Crothersville area.

The outfit consists of purple spandex pants and a light purple sweatshirt with a picture of a ballerina on the front and the word "Cutie" written underneath it.
