Police Make An Arrest In Katlyn's Murder

Family, police, and the entire community of Crothersville are heartbroken after finding out that 10-year-old Katlyn Collman has been found dead. A state trooper found her slain body about five miles north of Seymour, Indiana. Police confirm they have made an arrest in the death of Katlyn Collman, whose body was found this week in an Indiana stream. Charles "Chuckie" Hickman, 25, of Crothersville, Ind., has been charged with murdering Katlyn Collman. The charges carry the death penalty. Police say he also faces charges of criminal confinement.

Authorities Learn of Motive

According to court records, Collman saw people inside a Crothersville home making meth as she was walking home from the Dollar General Store on Jan. 25. Records suggest that Hickman borrowed a friend's truck, picked her up and tried to scare her into not talking about what she might have seen. Court documents go on to say that Hickman drove Collman to Cypress Lake, where she fell or was pushed -- with her hands tied behind her back -- to her death. Hickman is being held in solitary confinement without bond in the Jackson County Jail. A tentative trial date has been set for October. It's not clear yet if it will be a death-penalty case. Katlyn's funeral has been scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 6 at the local high school.
